    L&T presses for ML over two bauxite deposits

    Engineering and construction giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has made a renewed bid to secure mining rights over Sijimali and Kutrumali bauxite deposits across Kalahandi and Rayagada districts after the enforcement of the Mines & Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act, MMDR Act, 2015.
    Since L&T already has a prospecting license (PL) over these twin deposits, it is hopeful to bag them. Both Kutrumali and Sijimali have combined reserve of 300 million tonne of bauxite.

    Vedanta plans to expand refinery capacity to 6 mtpa

    BHUBANESWAR: Vedanta Resources Plc today said it plans to raise capacity of its Lanjigarh Alumina refinery to 6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore.
    Talking to reporters after meeting Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Vedanta Resources chairman Anil Agarwal said doubling of the present plant capacity to 2 mtpa would be done within a year of getting all the clearances.

    BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Friday announced in the Assembly that Vedanta Aluminium Limited (VAL) will be provided laterite deposits to run its plant at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district.
    “The State Government has decided to provide laterite stone mines to Vedanta which requires bauxite for its refinery at Lanjigarh,” Minister of State for Steel and Mines Prafulla Kumar Mallik said while replying to a question from Chandrasekhar Majhi (Cong).
